PM Iain Massie led his Grade III Worcester Kiltie Band out to a 3rd place finish this Saturday playing their medley. It was a cold and very windy day but it was sunny and both the pipe and drum corps' put on fine performances.

PM Neil Gow led his Grade V band, comprised mostly of young students, to their first win of the season against a field of ten other bands. Again, both pipe and drum corps' did everyone proud.

This was the last competition of the season for both bands who now look forward to working hard in the off-season and getting ready for our Annual Burns Supper.

Glasgowlands was host to the Northeast Branch Qualifier for the Grade III Championships today. As always, it was a warm and humid day. All the bands put on fine performances in less than optimal conditions. Worcester was able to secure a third place finish in their medley and then in the qualifier earned a second place with a great band effort. Congratulations to The Stuart Highlanders on their win and getting in to the Championship Round. Worcester still has a chance to get into the Championship if they place at the Capital District Games.

A warm and sticky day greeted Pipe Major John Sullivan and his newly upgraded Grade III pipe band as they entered the competition circle for their first time this season. Onlookers, bandsmen and judges were very pleased with their performance and they were able to secure a very respectable third place finish in a difficult contest with other seasoned grade three bands. Great job!!
Grade V also had their first outing of the season and although not in the prize list, were able to take first in drumming and second in ensemble. Way to go guys!

Pipe Major Neil Gow is stepping down from his position as musical leader of The Worcester Kiltie Band. Neil first joined the band in 1963 and played with them through their "glory" days, winning five Grade One North American Championships including three in a row. He was also part of the band that became the first and only American band to win a Grade One contest on Scottish soil, besting Shotts & Dykehead and Glasgow Police( now Strathclyde Police )at Lesmehagow in 1969.
Drawing on that rich and very successful experience at the highest level, Neil has focused his attention on tutoring youngsters in the Worcester area. He brought his students out to compete in 2004 at the Grade V level and in four very short seasons has been able to propel them into Grade III. No small accomplishment by any means!
Although Neil is stepping down as Pipe Major he will stay involved in the WKB organization as director of our new piping and drumming school. Thank you for all your effort and vision Neil. Kudos!

After a very successful competition season Worcester's Grade IV band has been upgraded to Grade III. With continued hard work and a few new talented additions in the offseason, Worcester is poised to be a prescence in the new grade.

September 22nd, 2007

In our last contest of 2007 our Grade IV band finished the season like they started it, by sweeping every category- with firsts in piping, ensemble an drumming. A great way to end our first year in the grade.
Our Grade V band came in fourth place with one second place finish in piping. A solid conclusion to our first year competing as a unit. Both bands eagerly await nexts years competition season.

Please check back here often for updates on our January 26th, 2008 Burns Supper Dinner Dance and Concert.

September 1st, 2007

Worcester Grade IV come in second place with another solid performance. Recieving one first place in piping and another in drumming. It was a close competition but a young Scotia Glenville band won out. Worcester Grade V was one point away from second place this time out. A little dissapointing, but the Grade V drum corps recieved an Above Grade Level Distinction, which more than made up for it.

August 19th, 2007

Worcester Grade IV played one of their finer performances at Hunter Mountain recently which was more than enough for them to take first place for the day! Great job everyone!

July 21st, 2007

Worcester Grade IV faced it's largest group of competitors thus far this year and was able to secure a a third place finish thanks in large part to a fantastic 1st place showing by the drum corps, led by Michael Heningham. Congratulations to Scotia-Glenville on their win.
Worcester Grade V also faced it's largest group of competitors and beat them all with a great band effort. It's the Grade V bands first win and sure to not be their last!

June 2nd, 2007

Worcester Grade IV remains unbeaten to date, besting the Stuart Highlanders on a beautiful spring day in Jaffrey. Worcester Grade V continues to improve their play and placed second in a field of five.

May 19th, 2007

Worcester Grade IV takes another first place over the Graham Highlanders of Vermont. Worcester Grade V takes second place to a strong Rhode Island Highlander Band, not bad for their first competition.

April 14th, 2007

In our first competition since our upgrade the Grade IV Band swept all four categories at the Indoor Games sponsored by The New Hampshire School of Scottish Arts. An infusion of new drummers over the off-season has solidified the band as a whole and we are looking forward to a successful 2007 season.
